יום העיון יתקיים בקמפוס בצלאל החדש ע”ש ג’ק ג’וזף ומורטון מנדל בירושלים והנו שיתוף פעולה של תכנית פולברייט ישראל ובצלאל אקדמיה לאמנות ועיצוב ירושלים.
ביום העיון, הראשון מסוגו בישראל, נניח על סדר היום הציבורי את תחומי היצירה והרוח המכונים “מדעי הרוח הציבוריים”- Public Humanities, וחשיבותם הרבה לחיים האזרחיים, התרבותיים, הכלכליים והמחקריים בישראל.
אנו מקווים שיום העיון יהיה אבן הפינה להקמת רשת תחנות רוח בארץ.
יום העיון יהיה מורכב מהרצאות של מומחים בתחום מהארץ והעולם ומסדנאות מעשיות.
במהלך היום נדון באופן בו על האקדמיה להכשיר את את העתודות המקצועיות בתחום ועל אפשרויות להנגשה ותיווך ידע בין האקדמיה למגזר הציבורי ולדיסיפלינות שונות.
נבחן כיצד מוסדות התרבות הציבוריים ששואפים להיות רלוונטיים, יכולים לעורר שיח רב קולות וביקורתי, וכיצד הם יכולים להפוך למשאב חברתי וקהילתי ולשמש כתחנות רוח – מקומות מפגש בין תוכן לחברה.
לשם כך נבחן את המקום של טכנולוגיות וחדשנות, נחשוב על האתגרים העומדים על סדר היום המקומי והעולמי ונאפשר לנסח את הידע הקיים בישראל בגופים וקהילות שונות ללעוגן תרבותי אזרחי, שעוסק בשאלות ואתגרים מרכזיים בהווה ובעתיד.
בעולם קיימות דוגמאות למוסדות המשמשים כחממה לרעיונות ולמחקר, וכמרחבי לימוד והכשרה מעצימה של הקהילות שהם משרתים.
דוגמה מפורסמת לצעדים מסוג זה הם אלו שנעשו מוזיאון האמנויות וההיסטוריה של סנטה קרוז, בתקופה בה נוהל על-ידי נינה סימון (Nina Simon) שתפתח את יום העיון.
יום העיון הבינלאומי מיועד לאנשי ונשות אקדמיה, סטודנטיםות, קובעות וקובעי מדיניות, אמניםות ואנשי ונשות מקצוע ממוסדות ציבור הפועלים ומתעניינים בתחומי התרבות, החברה, היצירתיות והטכנולוגיה אשר אמונים על הכשרת הדורות הבאים ובניית עתודות מקצועיות.

Building and Sustaining a Public Humanities Program: a Case Study from the United States. (In English)
Professor Ricardo L. Ortiz, Director, MA Program in Engaged and Public Humanities, Georgetown University.
While using the MA Program in Engaged and Public Humanities at Georgetown University as a touchstone, this session will also explore possible alternative approaches to building public humanities “infrastructures” in institutions of higher education using recent published work on the topic. We will focus on program building, curricular design, faculty recruitment and development, and student training, as well as on alternative models of public outreach, and alternative approaches to serving the public good.
