MGSDII Visiting Faculty Program
The Murray Galinson San Diego-Israel Initiative (MGSDII) builds deep, diverse, academically rigorous Israel content and engagement on San Diego university campuses. The MGSDII Visiting Faculty Program funds Israeli academics to teach about Israel at universities in San Diego, California. This program gives both tenured, tenure-track and, in some cases, post-doc Israeli academics the opportunity to spend an academic semester or year abroad teaching about modern Israel. The MGSDII places visiting faculty across many disciplines at University of California San Diego (UCSD), San Diego State University (SDSU) and California State University at San Marcos (CSUSM).
This academic year, there are nine visiting Israelis teaching about modern Israel at universities in San Diego across disciplines. Subjects are as diverse as sustainability, political science, screenwriting, film making, urban planning, history and sociology.
Currently, the MGSDII is interviewing for the 2020-2021 academic year and beyond.
For the 2020-2021 academic year, the Initiative currently has invitations for scholars in history of modern Israel and the Middle East. Visiting scholars must have a PhD in the field and must have experience teaching at an Israeli university or college. Typically, visiting scholars teach two (2) courses about modern Israel each semester and/or quarter.
To apply for the MGSDII Visiting Faculty program, please send your C.V. and titles and course description for two courses about Israel that you propose to teach. To be considered for the 2020-2021 academic year, please submit before December 1, 2019 to Mitchell Price at mitchell@mgsdii.org.
