The Center for Book Arts is pleased to announce the Book Art Research Fellowship for 2020
The Center’s Permanent Collection consists of three parts: 1) a Fine Arts Collection of artists’ books, prints, and objects; 2) a Reference Library focused on the practice, theory, and history of book arts; and 3) the Center’s Archives containing records of original exhibitions presented at the Center and the history of the Center’s programmatic activities. Taken as a whole, the Center’s collections serve as a historical record of book art as a creative medium and a framework for critical research into book art practice.

The Book Art Research Fellowship will provide a stipend of $1,500 for research projects drawing upon the Center’s holdings. The selected individuals will be given access to the Center’s collections and provided institutional support during the research process. Fellows are expected to spend two or three weeks at the Center for Book Arts. At the end of their work at the Center, each fellow will present their research in a public program and the Center will subsequently have the first right of refusal to publish their research.
Two fellows will be selected for the 2020 calendar year. US-based graduate students and scholars in art history, literature, book history, library science, museum studies, and related fields are encouraged to submit applications.
