Getty Library Research Grants provide partial, short-term support for researchers requiring the use of specific collections housed in the Getty Research Institute (GRI). The GRI’s grant budget has been generously supplemented by donations from Getty Research Institute Council members and the Getty Conservation Institute.
In addition to the open call for applications, a number of focused grants will be awarded as described below:
Specialized topics
- Research on intersections between art and science
- Research on connections between visual art forms and music
- Research considering the visual culture of food, including culinary history, and the preparation and presentation of food, utilizing the Anne Willan and Mark Cherniavsky Gastronomy Collection of rare and contemporary books
- Research that utilizes the Conservation Collection of specialized research materials related to the preservation and conservation of material cultural heritage
