We welcome applications for a postdoctoral fellowship, which is part of the research project “Skepticism about Testimony,” funded by the Israeli Science Foundation. The project’s principal investigators are Dr. Arnon Keren from the Department of Philosophy at the University of Haifa, and Dr. Boaz Miller from the Department of Community Information Systems at Zefat Academic College. The project studies skeptical arguments about the possibility of attaining knowledge from testimony and involves an empirical study of how people form testimonial beliefs online.
The successful candidate will pursue his or her own research, as well as contribute to the project. The fellow is expected to assist in various ways in the research project, including participating in building Web interfaces and running online experiments, to comment on or summarize papers related to the research project, to co-author papers with other team members, and participate regularly in meetings of the research team.
The fellowship consists of NIS 90,000 / year (approximately USD 24,000) and is renewable for a second year subject to successful performance by the fellow. The fellowship is conditioned on continued funding for the project by the ISF.
- PhD in philosophy, STS, information studies or related fields. Prior research on related issues is an asset. Knowledge of social epistemology is an asset.
- Experience in computer programming. Experience as a Web or Full Stack developer is an asset.
