The Department of Philosophy at Stockholm University is Sweden’s largest philosophy department. The department is home to a very active, friendly, and cooperative community of internationally well connected researchers, and hosts a large variety of conferences, workshops, colloquia, seminars, and guest researchers every year.  Like most major philosophy departments in Sweden, the Stockholm department is divided into two subjects — Practical and Theoretical Philosophy — both of which feature many researchers prominent in their fields. Theoretical Philosophy encompasses philosophy of language, logic, epistemology, metaphysics, philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, and the history of philosophy.

We are now looking to further strengthen our profile in the philosophy of science and/or epistemology and are inviting applications for one Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor, permanent position) in the following two areas:
•   Philosophy of science: general philosophy of science as well as the philosophies of special disciplines in the natural sciences, social sciences, or the humanities.
•   Epistemology: general epistemology as well as formal epistemology.

The ideal candidate in the philosophy of science combines work in the general philosophy of science with work on the philosophy of a special discipline. The ideal candidate in epistemology combines work in general epistemology with work in formal epistemology. The successful candidate has a strong research record in one of the two indicated areas and also a good documented teaching ability.
