Job Description
We are looking for an experienced academic editor/proofreader with a passion for academia and research to become a managing academic editor at Academic Language Experts (ALE). The position includes oversight and quality control of all translations and edits completed by Academic Language Experts as well as project management and communication with clients and language experts. The job requires a keen eye for evaluating texts, identifying typing errors, issues with grammar, stylistic issues etc. It also requires a knowledge of the major academic style sheets. High ceiling for potential growth.
The Position:
Developing ongoing relationships with clients and freelance editors+translators
Ensuring translations meet requirements and deadlines
Editing/Proofreading all texts throughout the process
Some translation and/or editing work in your specialist language(s)
Help writing and editing blogs/promotional content/newsletter
Qualifications:
2 + years’ experience translating, editing, proofreading and formatting academic texts
Strong academic background (Master’s degree or higher desired; translation or editing certificate a big plus)
Native English required
Fluncy in Hebrew required
Extensive experience preparing academic papers for publication
Fluency with Chicago Manual of Style and APA style sheets (other style sheets a plus)
Aptitude for project management
The Details
80-100% time
Location: 1 day per week at the office (Jerusalem), remainder at home
In order to work well within ALE’s small and friendly team, a co-operative attitude, well-developed communication skills, self-motivation, and an ability to take responsibility for decisions are required. Last but by no means least, integrity is essential and a sense of humour would be lovely.
