CALL FOR PAPERS : MENA Science & Religion Network
The MENA S&R network is a new initiative to support researchers (including graduate students) and invigorate discussions pertaining to science and religion in the MENA region. It has several foci, the first being this CFP. We are inviting papers either from authors in the MENA region (affiliated with an institution therein), or about the MENA region, on subjects pertaining to science and religion, from a wide range of disciplines including: history, sociology, philosophy, anthropology, STS, education, hermeneutics etc.
Unpublished papers (between 8,000 and 10,000 words) on subjects such as those outlined above should be emailed by 15 March 2023 to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Decisions will be sent by the end of April. Winners may be asked for some revisions to their papers before presentation in an online forum in June. The reviewing committee will be evaluating the papers with several considerations in mind, including: a) Relevance of the paper b) Novelty of the paper c) Clarity of writing d) Cogency of the arguments.
The authors of the six best papers will be awarded 1,000 GBP each, with payment being issued after the presentation of the paper in June 2023. A further 2,000 GBP for the best paper within the six will be offered in June. All six winning authors may also be invited to submit their paper for a special issue of a journal or an edited volume.
