Art, Film, and Visual Studies

The Department of Art, Film, and Visual Studies seeks applications for a College Fellow in Film and Visual Studies. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2020. The College Fellow will have teaching responsibilities, with 25 percent of the appointment reserved for the Fellow’s own research. Teaching duties will include teaching three courses for Undergraduate and Graduate students, with 25% of the appointment reserved for the Fellow’s own research. The Fellow may also advise and evaluate senior theses.

Doctorate or terminal degree is required by the start of the 2020-21 academic year, and must have been received no earlier than 2016. The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. Applicants should propose one (or more) entry-level lecture class(es) on topics of their choosing, designed to be of interest to a broad range of undergraduate students. Please submit title(s) and course abstract(s) of approx. 200 words. Complete applications, including CV, lecture course title/abstract, and letters of reference, must be submitted by April 1, 2020.

Folklore & Mythology

Position Description: The Undergraduate Program in Folklore & Mythology seeks applications for a College Fellow in Folklore and Mythology. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2020. The College Fellow will have teaching responsibilities, with 25 percent of the appointment reserved for the Fellow’s own research. Teaching duties will include offering three undergraduate courses in the field during the 2020-21 academic year (e.g., F&M 98A. History and Theory of Folklore and Mythology). The Fellow may also be asked to advise one senior thesis and to evaluate senior theses.

Philosophy (Epistemology)

The Department of Philosophy seeks applications for a College Fellow in Philosophy. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2020. The College Fellow will have teaching responsibilities, with 25 percent of the appointment reserved for the Fellow’s own research. Teaching duties will include three courses, and the Fellow may also advise and evaluate senior theses. The content, timing, and level of the courses the Fellow teaches will be determined in consultation between the Fellow and the Director of Undergraduate Studies. The department has particular needs in epistemology, broadly construed.

Philosophy (Metaphysics or Ethics)

The Department of Philosophy seeks applications for a College Fellow in Philosophy. This appointment will be offered should funding become available (which will be settled by April 1). The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2020. The College Fellow will have teaching responsibilities, with 25 percent of the appointment reserved for the Fellow’s own research. Teaching duties will include three courses, and the Fellow may also advise and evaluate senior theses. The content, timing, and level of the courses the Fellow teaches will be determined in consultation between the Fellow and the Director of Undergraduate Studies. The department has particular needs in moral philosophy, political philosophy, and metaphysics. Candidates with competencies in any of these areas are encouraged to apply. The department is especially eager to expand its course offerings in non-traditional topics and issues in these broad areas.
