Kaye Chair in Hebrew and Comparative Literature

Columbia University’s Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies is currently seeking an incumbent for the Kaye Chair in Modern Hebrew and Comparative Literature.

Columbia University Arts & Sciences and the Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies seek to fill the Kaye Chair in Modern Hebrew and Comparative Literature, to begin as early as July 1, 2020, at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor without tenure, Associate Professor with tenure, or Full Professor. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in the broad corpus of Modern Hebrew literature in comparative context and will be able to teach a varied range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including modern Hebrew literature. The appointment will be located within a department of language and literature, such as Germanic, Latin American and Iberian, Slavic, or English and Comparative Literature. We seek a candidate who embodies or has the potential to embody the highest standards of scholarly creativity.

Within your cover letter, please discuss your teaching philosophy, including how your teaching and research address issues of intellectual diversity and a diverse student population like that of Columbia.

Minimum Degree Required

PhD or equivalent degree by June 1, 2020.
