Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the Sixth International Conference on Israel and Judaism Studies (ICIJS’22) organized by Israiliyat: Journal of Israeli and Judaic Studies (e-ISSN 2645-890X) will be held as a virtual conference on December 12-16, 2022. ICIJS’22 is the sixth in an annual conference series; the first took place in Konya in 2017, the second in Bandirma Onyedi Eylul University in 2018, the third in Izmir Democracy University in 2019 and the last two were conducted virtually in December 2020 and 2021.

Main Theme and Conference Topics
This year’s conference main theme is “The Dynamics of Change Created Israel’s Expanding Economic Presence in the Middle East”. It aims to explore how changes in the economies of Israel and other Middle Eastern countries will affect the region’s future. The conference theme includes, but is not limited to, the following topics:

• The economy of the Middle East

• Israel’s economy

• Growth and human capital in the Israeli economy

• Israel’s defense Industry

• Israel’s R&D dynamics

• The future of Middle Eastern energy reserves

• The effect of political dynamics on regional development

• Economic policy of the region

• Growth analysis

• Future simulations

• Effects of international economic developments on the Middle East

• Changing regional effects of the global economy

• Effects of the Chinese economy on the Middle East

• Middle East policies in Russian politics

• Balance of economic power and sectoral growth in the Middle East

• Middle East policies regarding the balance of economic power and regional conflicts

• The present and future of innovation and entrepreneurship in the Region

• Turkish- Israeli Political Economy

• The future of the Iranian, Turkish, and Israeli economies from the perspective of regional power

• Middle East policies of the USA and EU.

Papers on topics outside this year’s theme are also welcome. The conference’s broader scope includes all subareas of Israel and Jewish Studies. These include (but are not limited to) various disciplines such as current political issues, international relations, the history and sociology of Israel, as well as more traditional sub-fields of Jewish Studies.

We would like to organize a session on anti-Semitism at the 2022 meeting. The organizers welcome proposals for both individual papers as well as panel sessions.

We plan to prepare an analysis report within the framework of a joint opinion/ research.

Application
The application/ registration process in conference consist of four phases totally:

(i) application by submitting an abstract or

(ii) submitting the full text and/or research article (optional)

Accepted submissions may be presented via

(i) a pre-recorded video presentation (with/ without live Q&A), or

(ii) live streamed presentation (with Q&A).

Files of pre-recorded presentations should be should be submitted via Google Drive to <info@israiliyat.com>.

The conference will be held virtually via Google Meet video-conferencing. Depending on travel and meeting restrictions we may adopt a hybrid (both physical and virtual) format. Abstracts (with/without full text) will be published in the Proceeding and Abstract Book (with e-ISBN). Revised, complete versions of papers will be published in the Israiliyat journal or in an edited book upon referees’ decision.

There is no registration fee. All presenters who make live (synchronous), pre-recorded (asynchronous) presentations will receive a certificate of participation following the virtual conference.

Please, remember the following important dates:

(i) Deadline for Abstract: November 15, 2022

(ii) Notification of Acceptance: after review process without any loss of time

(iii) Deadline for Full Text and/or Research Article Submission and/or pre-Recorded Video Submission: December 4, 2022

(iv) Conference Dates: December 12-16, 2022

Awards
ICIJS’22 is pleased to announce that for the sixth time annual awards will again be presented to the authors of distinguished Israel and Jewish studies PhD and MA dissertations and theses written in Turkey in the categories of history, politics and religion. Rewards will also be presented for outstanding academic articles and original/translated books in these fields.
