Grade 7: £31,604 – £38,833 p.a.
The Middle East Studies Programme in the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies seeks applications from candidates in a social science discipline or modern history, with special reference to the Middle East, for a fixed term Postdoctoral Research Officer position, funded by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation for 24 months. The School is looking for the best possible candidate working within the study of the Middle East with particular reference to Turkey, Iran or Egypt.
The postholder will be responsible to Professor Philip Robins and be expected to play an active part in shaping this project. They will be involved in research, data collection, fieldwork and writing the publications based on the research for the project. The School is seeking candidates who demonstrate enthusiasm for developing their research profile and with a keen interest in collaboration and working as part of team to develop this exciting project.
We are looking for the candidate who most fully meets the following criteria: already hold a relevant PhD/DPhil, together with relevant experience; possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes; ability to manage own academic research and associated activities; previous experience of contributing to publications/presentations; ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and research income generation; excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings both inside and outside the institution.
The post is based at the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies, Bevington Road, Oxford.
