ספר זה סוקר את האירועים ההיסטוריים אשר הובילו אוכלוסייה בדווית להתיישב ולהשתלב בערים ובכפרים פלאחיים בגליל בין השנים 1700–2020. תהליך זה החל בנדידת השבטים מאזור חצי האי ערב לעיראק ולסוריה, תוך אילוץ השבטים המקומיים לנדוד מערבה, והמשיך בהנחת התשתית הראשונית להתיישבות הבדווים בערים ובכפרים הערביים בגליל במהלך השלטון העות’מאני בארץ-ישראל/פלסטין שהסתיים ב-1918. התיישבות זו המשיכה במהלך המנדט הבריטי בארץ וגם לאחר הקמת מדינת ישראל.
מטרתו של הספר היא לנתח את דינמיקת הגורמים והנסיבות אשר הובילו את האוכלוסייה הבדווית להעתיק את מקום מגוריהם לערים ולכפרים פלאחיים על פני יישובים בדווים ייחודיים בגליל. הטענה המרכזית העומדת בבסיס הספר היא כי תהליך קיבועם של הבדווים בערים ובכפרים פלאחיים בגליל הושפע, מחד גיסא, ממדיניות עות’מאנית, בריטית וישראלית ריכוזית, ומתהליכים כלכליים-חברתיים שהתרחשו במהלך המאה השמונה-עשרה, התשע-עשרה והעשרים, ומאידך גיסא, מיחסי גומלין פנים ובין שבטיים. יחסים אלו, כפי שאבקש להראות בספר, לא מעידים על מבנה שבטי קשיח ובלתי משתנה, אלא דווקא על זהויות והבנייתיות חברתיות גמישות, בעלות גבולות חדירים. במיוחד בולטים בהקשר זה קשרי הגומלין שהתקיימו בין בדווים לפלאחים. ספר זה מתבסס על מקורות ארכיוניים ועל ספרות מחקרית, כמו גם על חמישם-ותשעה ראיונות עומק אשר נערכו בין השנים 2013–2015 עם תושבים בדווים ופלאחים מערים ומכפרים ערביים שונים בגליל.
This book describes the historical events that prompted Bedouin population to settle and integrate into Arab towns and villages in the Galilee, between the years 1700 and 1918. This process began with the migration of tribes from the Arabian Peninsula to Iraq and Syria, which forced local tribes to migrate west, and continued to lay the initial foundation for Bedouin settlement in Arab towns and villages in the Galilee during the Ottoman rule in the Land of Israel/Palestine that ended in 1918.
This book’s purpose is to analyze the dynamics of the factors and circumstances that led to migration of Bedouin communities into towns and villages of farmers (Fellahin), and not specifically to the unique Bedouin settlements in the Galilee. The main argument of this article is that the process of Bedouin settlements in Galilee towns and villages was influenced, on the one hand, by centralized Ottoman, British and Israeli policy, and socio-economic processes that took place during the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and on the other hand, by internal social relation within and between tribes. These relations, as I would like to show, do not indicate a rigid and unchanging tribal structure, but rather a flexible identity and social construct, with permeable boundaries. Particularly notable in this context are the interactions that took place between Bedouins and Fellahin. The book is based on archival sources, research literature, as well as fifty-nine in-depth interviews conducted between 2013–2015 with Bedouin and Fellahin residents in various Arab towns and villages in the Galilee.
