Postgraduate Study - The School of Advanced Study (SAS) is the UK's national centre for the support and promotion of research in the humanities.
The School offers nearly thirty full- and part-time postgraduate programmes (MA, MRes, LLM, MPhil, and PhD) in a wide range of humanities subjects, including art history, classics, Commonwealth studies, English and American literature and culture, history and historical research, human rights, Latin American studies, law, and modern languages. In addition to these campus-based programmes, we offer distance learning PhDs in a range of subject areas and master’s degree programmes in law and in refugee/migration studies. Our students benefit from the School’s collaborative research environment, specialist libraries, and opportunities to participate in an extensive programme of events. They may attend or present at one of our numerous research seminar series, which spark innovative thinking across disciplinary boundaries. Our research training programme draws on the extensive research and teaching expertise of staff in our nine institutes and the University of London. Sessions are offered primarily in face-to-face settings, although many can be accessed online. In addition to subject-specific training, we offer courses in the software and information management tools you'll need to complete your research effectively.
